A team of 500 level students of the Department of Surveying and Geoinformatics, Faculty of Engineering, University of Lagos (UNILAG) have emerged winners of the Hydrography Research Competition among universities in Nigeria
The team comprising Mr. Samuel Adeboye, Mr. Ayomide Paul Oyewole, Mr. Sheriff Abiola Adewuyi, Miss Ozioma Helen Orji and Miss Abimbola Faith Ewenla won the competition with their research paper titled: Designing a Sustainable Seabed Mapping Strategy for Nigeria’s Coastal Water.
Their outstanding submission led the rankings among twelve (12) universities selected from the six (6) geo-political zones in Nigeria according to official online journal of the institution
The winners were announced at the World Hydrography Day and 2025 West African Hydrographic Summit organised by the National Hydrographic Agency (NHA) in collaboration with the Nigerian Hydrographic Society (NHS), from Thursday, June 19 to Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Abuja Continental Hotel.
Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, Prof. Folasade Ogunsola last Thursday, July 10, 2025, in appreciation of the academic feat, officially received the winning team led by the Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Samson Adeosun along with Dr. Alfred Alademomi (Sub-Dean), Dr. Emeka Epuh (Acting HOD, Surveying and Geoinformatics), Dr. Adekunle Hamid-Mosaku and Dr. Emmanuel Ayodele.
