Stanbic Bank CEO Urges University Graduates Not To Stop Learning New Things

Nigerian university graduates have been urged not to stop learning new things for them to be relevant in this fast-changing world, identifying continuous learning as critical drivers for growth 

CEO of Stanbic Bank, Mr. Wole Adeniyi gave the charge while delivering the 2025 Babcock University Charis Graduating Class convocation lecture, titled "The Power of Mindset: Embracing the Unlearning Process," at the University campus in Ilishan-Remo , Ogun State 

"In today's fast-changing world where adaptability and resilience are key to navigating the complexities of modern life, going beyond previous knowledge to learn, unlearn, and relearn are critical drivers for growth", he advised 

"You are a work in progress and that is a gift. You are not limited by your past understanding. Let your mindset be elastic; let your belief be questioned and let your growth be continuous," Adeniyi advised the graduating students. 

He also cautioned against perfectionism, describing it as "a very dangerous myth." "Unlearn the fear of failure. Embrace experimentation," he urged the audience.

Furthermore, he encouraged the students to shed restrictive beliefs

"Education has prepared you to dream, don't let your mind become your prison."

He stressed the need for the graduating students to always collaborate, network, and seek mentorship for them to move forward and be ready for a bright future-

Drawing from scriptures, Mr. Adeniyi emphasized the importance of mindset, citing Proverbs 23:7

 "As a man thinketh in his heart, so he is," and Ephesians 4:23, "Be renewed in the spirit of your mind." 

"Set your mind on things above, not on things that are on earth," highlighting the need for a heavenly perspective in shaping one's mindset", he added making references to Colossians

Babcock University's President/Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ademola Tayo, describe the lecture as "timely, apt, and relevant." 

He counseled the graduating students not to take the lessons learned for granted.

The Senior Vice President Academics, Prof. Philemon Amanze, and other principal officers of the institution were also present to give their support to an event that has become one of the University's signature programs to mark its convocation.
