Newly constituted board of the Ogun State Water Corporation led by Hon. Johnson Olu-Fatoki is seeking the support of management of the corporation to boost water supply across the state and drive revenue as a true business enterprise
Chairman of the board during an inaugural strategic meeting with management team led by Special Adviser in charge of the corporation, Hon.Damilola Otubanjo held on Thursday at its headquarters in Oke-mosan, Abeokuta, expressed the readiness of his fellow members to turn around the business fortune of the corporation inline with the mandate given by Governor Dapo Abiodun to transform the corporation and ensure water flows across the state
He described as unacceptable a situation where government spends N150 million and generates N15million on monthly basis, stressing the need for both the board and management team to jointly work together to address the challenges facing the corporation, by blocking identified revenue leakages and improving on supply to customers in every part of the state
The Oganla of Owu kingdom folded the plan of the new board to visit various water schemes and facilities of the corporation across the state, as part of measures to assess the situation on ground and address the challenges, so as to reposition the corporation for optimum performance
He assured the management of the readiness of the Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration to give the needed support to ensure the corporation deliver on its mandate of providing portable water for the people in the state
Olu-Fatoki added that the board would also exploring business opportunities of involving private sector under the Public Private Participation to address some of the challenges, particularly in the area of technical support
Special Adviser , Otubanjo responding on behalf of the management assured the board of the readiness to work together for the common goals of the corporation as a true business enterprise
The management according to her , will ensure installation prepaid meter for every customer, as part of measures being taken to prevent wastages and generate more revenue for the corporations
The management attributed the inadequate water supply in the state to the damage caused to several pipelines of the corporation by construction firms who handled road expansion projects in the state
Other board members of the corporation who attended the strategic inaugural meeting included Akeran Jimoh, Engr. Femi Oyebanjo, Hon. Gafar Balogun, Hon. Omowunmi Adewale, and Mrs. Ganiyat Abiola Busari
