LASU Raises Alarm Over Stolen Mobile Phone, Impersonation Of Prof.Harrison Adeniyi







Management of the Lagos State University Ojo has raised an alarm over the stolen mobile phone of Professor Harrison Adeniyi, of the Department of Linguistics, African Languages and Communication Arts, Faculty of Arts, now being used by the impostor to extort money  from the unsuspected members of the public who are on the phone's contact list

Deputy Registrar/Coordinator of  Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPR), Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile who raised  the alarm in a statement obtained by Edu-Biznews on Wednesday, says individual in possession of the device is currently impersonating Professor Adeniyi through WhatsApp messages and phone calls, attempting to fraudulently solicit money from his contacts 

The university then warned members of the public to ignore  calls or messages on Whatsapp from such individual,  maintaining that such calls or messages never originated  from the original owner of the phone 

The statement reads in part:
"It has come to the attention of the Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations (CIPR) that the mobile device of Professor Harrison Adeniyi, of the Department of Linguistics, African Languages and Communication Arts0, Faculty of Arts, has been stolen"

'The individual in possession of the device is currently impersonating Professor Adeniyi through WhatsApp messages and phone calls, attempting to fraudulently solicit money from his contacts and associates"

"In view of this, members of the University Community and the public are strongly advised to disregard any such messages or calls and refrain from responding to any financial requests purportedly made on the professor’s behalf", the statement concluded
