Fresh graduands in Banking and Finance Higher National Diploma (HND) programme from the Ogun State Government owned D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area, have been assured of mobilization for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme any moment from now
The students from the department have taken to social media platforms, where they expressed anxiety over their fate and likely exclusion from the mandatory one year national service for Nigerian graduates within the age bracket of 30 and below, as a result of accreditation status of the HND Banking and Finance programme in the institution
But Rector of the institution, Dr. Adegoke Akeem Rauf in an exclusive interview recently with Edu-Biznews on the campus, allayed the fear being expressed by the students, assuring them of mobilization any moment from now for the NYSC scheme, because all programmes in the polytechnic have been fully accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE )
"I must state that HND Banking and Finance programme has been fully accredited by NBTE and those who completed their programme are bound to go for NYSC scheme any time from now. We want to tell the whole world that D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic will not enroll students for academic programmes not accredited by the regulatory body for polytechnic education in Nigeria", he clarified
The Rector also recalled the recent academic feat recorded by the institution in the last accreditation exercise carried out by NBTE in March, 2025, when it emerged as first polytechnic in the country to secure full accreditation to run three optional programmes in HND Mass Communication including *Journalism and Media Studies*, *Strategic Communication and Media Studies*and *Film and Multi-media Production "
He attributed the academic feat to team work of academic staff and support of the governing council of the institution, in ensuring provision of additional studio for the multi-media programme to the compliment the existing well equipped studio adjudged by the NBTE as the best in South-West, Nigeria
"We want students to come and take advantage of the facilities that we have here, it is good for us, we have capacity to admit more students. With the accreditation of three HND programmes in Mass Communication Department, we can admit a minimum of 240 students, we are fully prepared for it"
Dr. Rauf, an alumnus of Mass Communication Department of then Ogun State Polytechnic now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) Abeokuta, also said that the institution got the mandate of NBTE to run four additional new HND programmes in*Architecture Technology*, *Building Technology*, *Library and Information Sciences* and Estate Management
"These four new academic programmes aside Mass Communication, are also cost intensive to mount by any institution to run ", he stated
The polytechnic recently held its 19th Matriculation ceremony for the fresh students admitted for the 2024/2025 academic session
The institution currently runs academic programmes at Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma in the School of Engineering and Sciences, School of Management Sciences, School of Communication and Information Technology as well as School of Environmental Studies and Centre for Part-time Programmes
