Governing Council of the Ogun State Government owned D.S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State has expressed its excitement over the institution's academic feat as first institution in Nigeria to secure full accreditation of the National Board for Technical Education(NBTE) to run academic programmes in three options of Higher National Diploma in Mass Communication including *Journalism and Media Studies*, *Strategic Communication and Media Studies* and*Film and Multi-media Production*
Chairman of the council, Ambassador Toye Okanlawon who expressed the excitement during the 19th Matriculation ceremony for the fresh students admitted for the 2024/2025 academic session, also revealed that the council facilitated the ongoing building construction under the National Information Technology Development (NITDA)
Ambassador Okanlawon who was represented by a member of the governing council, Dr. Kayode Olunuga said that the building when completed would serve as a Tech-Hub not only for the polytechnic but for other sister institutions in and around the campus
He added that the inherited uncompleted School of Management Sciences building which has four lecture theatres and offices was completed and furnished
"While we are not yet at our best, it is gladdening that the Council is aware of the need to improve the institution's staff welfare packages, which we are relentlessly pursuing. Thus , permit me to use this medium to solicit for your continued patience, forbearance and resilience. God helping us , we all shall realize the goal of making our institution a model for others to follow", he assured
The council's Chairman then urged the fresh students admitted into the various Ordinary National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes of the institution, to focus on their studies and shun cultism, violence, examination malpractices and other social vices capable of jeopardizing their studentship on campus
"To our dear parents and guardians, I appreciate your efforts to lay a fine foundation for your children and wards . I urge you to take a keen interest in their studies and closely monitor their extracurricular activities. It is my sincere prayer that your involvement and labour of love will be richly rewarded", he appealed
Earlier, the institution's Rector, Dr. Adegoke Akeem Rauf had cautioned the students against cultism, hooliganism, examination malpractices and other all forms of misconducts capable of destroying their academic pursuits in the constitution
"Please do not allow yourself to be misled . Guard your reputation, focus on your goals and make your time here count", he advised
The Rector who maintained the institution's zero tolerance for all forms of misconducts, however advised them to be focused on their studies, saying the goal of the polytechnic is to ensure that every student is well equipped to compete favourably with peer both within and beyond Nigeria-
