
A Non-Governmental Organization, Ireede Oginni Grassroots Foundation has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for conferring Posthumous National Honour on wife of the winner of June 12 , 1993 Presidential election, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola, as well as Chairman of the defunct National Electoral Commission(NEC), Prof. Humphrey Nwosu and former vice president, Shehu Yar'Adua amongst others who sacrificed their lives for survival of democracy in Nigeria
Founder of the foundation, Hajia (Chief) Zainab Funmilayo Ireede-Oginni who commended the president for conferment of the National Honour on other Distinguished Nigerians including Prof. Wole Soyinka, Right activist, Femi Falana,SAN and Catholic Cleric,Revd Father Martins Kukah, in a Democracy Day statement made available to Edu-Biznews on Thursday, also charged governors across the 36 States to compliment the effort of the Tinubu's administration, by reducing drastically the current economic hardship of Nigerians through various policies interventions to support agriculture and small scale businesses in their respective states, so as make life more meaningful for the people
She stated that governors must properly utilize their monthly allocation from the Federation Account which has increased substantially since the removal of fuel subsidy by the present administration in the country
The Chief Executive Officer CEO of Terra Integrated Services Limited, an emerging congromerate brand in Nigeria in the message, stressed the need for government at all levels to provide the needed basic infrastructure for businesses to thrive, saying doing this will justify the essence of celebration of Democracy Day and the struggle of the Late MKO Abiola and other prominent Nigerians who sacrificed their precious lives for survival of democracy in the country
The Co-founder of Future Promise Group of Schools Lantoro Abeokuta in Ogun State capital, emphasised the need for the political class, particularly public office holders to make democracy to work for Nigerians, by doing the needful to make people happy
She however pledged the commitment of her foundation to continuous empowerment of women in rural areas in the country through various grants to grow their small scale businesses while assuring brilliant children from the poor homes of regular support under the Ireede-Oginni Grassroots Foundation Scholarship Scheme
Chief Zainab Funmilayo Ireede-Oginni congratulated Nigerians on the sustenance of democracratic rule for the past 26 years in Nigeria, expressing confidence in the emergence of better future in the coming days of the Tinubu's administration, under the Renewed Hope Agenda initiatives
