Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education in Owerri, the Imo State capital has been allocated a total of N2,560,562,362.66 (Two Billion, Five Hundred and Sixty Million, Five Hundred and Sixty-Two Thousand, Three Hundred and Sixty-Two Naira, Sixty-Six Kobo) by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) for its Year 2025 intervention.
This significant allocation according to official statement by the union, follows the approval of the 2025 Intervention Disbursement Guidelines by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in line with the provisions of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund Act 2011.
The breakdown of the allocated funds across various intervention areas is as follows:
Physical Infrastructure/Programme Upgrade: N1,300,000,000.00
Academic Staff Training & Development: N240,000,000.00
ICT Support: N150,000,000.00
Library Development: N185,000,000.00
Conference Attendance: N170,000,000.00
Institution Based Research: N100,000,000.00
TETFund Project Maintenance: N180,000,000.00
Entrepreneurship Centres: N85,562,362.66
Career Centres/Unit: N100,000,000.00
Publication of Journals: N25,000,000.00
Manuscript Development: N25,000,000.00
The Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny Echono, communicated this allocation to the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. A.C. Onyeka in a letter dated March 13th, 2025.
