Rector Lauds President Tinubu, Senate On Proposed Conversion Of YabaTech To University

Rector of Yaba College of Technology,  Lagos, Dr. (Engr.) Ibraheem Adedotun Abdul has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and leadership of Nigerian Senate for the ongoing consideration of a bill seeking conversion of the college to the proposed Yaba Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies, describing it as a historic and transformative moment in the life of the nation's premier tertiary institution 

The bill for the conversion of the college to a university has scaled through second reading stage on Tuesday during plenary session at the Senate in Abuja

The Rector who was reacting to the development, says is not merely a legislative milestone—it is a national affirmation of YABATECH’s legacy, potential, and future.

Founded in 1947, YABATECH according to him, has for decades stood as a pillar of excellence in technical and vocational education in Nigeria. 

"Generations of industrious Nigerians have passed through its gates, gaining skills and knowledge that power the engines of our economy", 

"Today marks a historic and transformative moment in the life of our beloved institution, Yaba College of Technology. I am deeply humbled and honored to address the nation following the second reading of the bill seeking to convert YABATECH into the Yaba Federal University of Technology and Vocational Studies", he stated with excitement 

Dr. Abdul added that the upgrading of the college to full university status further demonstrated recognition of the institution for its consistent academic excellence and robust infrastructure as well as its impact on industry and role in national development 

"This upgrade, once completed, will not only expand our academic offerings but will also position the institution to engage more deeply in research, innovation, and enterprise that meet the evolving needs of a digital and industrial economy"
