Ogun HoS Tasks Head Teachers On Promotion Of Qualitative Basic Education

Ogun State Government has again reaffirmed its determination at prioritising education and building a public service system that will  promote efficiency and resperency, especially in the education sector 

The State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, made this known while declaring open a-day capacity building workshop and induction of newly appointed head teachers of public primary schools in Ogun State, with the theme "Effective School Management as a Catalyst for Qualitative Basic Education", put together by the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in collaboration with the Bureau of Establishments and Training, Office of the Head of Service at the NUT hall, Kuto, Abeokuta.

Onasanya said pupils of the State deserve nothing less than quality education, which could only be delivered by well-trained and motivated personnel, saying, the State Government would continue to engage in purposeful collaborations, timely interventions and policy innovations that would continue to elevate schools and prepare learners for the future.

Onasanya who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions, Engr. Olufisan Osiyale,  noted that, the theme was not only timely but instructive, as efforts of training and retraining by the Board to reposition basic education in the Gateway State was not in theory but in practical and impactful terms, which was in tandem with the vision of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun as encapsulated in the I.S.E.Y.A. mantra.

"The appointment of 200 new Head teachers into our primary school system marks a significant step towards strengthening leadership in our schools. These appointments were made with the conviction that quality leadership at the basic level is key to shaping the learning environment and influencing school culture in addition to ultimately determining the outcomes of basic education, this however, is also needed to ensure that these new leaders are not just filling vacancies but adequately prepared to drive excellence in our schools," the HoS said.Contributing, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, said the workshop was a remarkable way to welcome the newly appointed head teachers to the prestigious positions where people could see and value the responsibilities of the office.P

Prof. Arigbabu admonished them to see the appointment as an opportunity to serve and bring out the ingenuity and creativity in them to turn their various schools around for the good of all and the State at large.

In her remarks, Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, congratulated the newly appointed head teachers, urging them to have a vision to succeed and leave enduring legacies, that they would be remembered for, even when they were long gone.

She charged them to contribute their quotas and show good examples to their followers, in all their undertakings for the overall development of the State.

Earlier, SUBEB Board Secretary, Dr. Mikhail Lawal said the first of its kind induction ceremony for the newly appointed Head teachers in the State was meant to mark a significant milestone in the history of education in Ogun SUBEB, calling on the inductees to be shining examples of quality leadership in their various schools.

On behalf of other inductees, Mrs. Olubusola Komolafe from Ansar-ud-deen School, Irolu, appreciated the State government for the elevation, as well as the opportunity given to them to contribute their quota to the development of education in the State.
