Ogun Assembly Visits Sagamu, Obafemi-Owode LGs, Tasks Council Chairman On Revenue Leakages




Ogun State House of Assembly has tasked local government council chairmen in the State to set machineries in motion with the aims of identifying revenue leakages , blocking them and improving their internally generated revenue (IGR) 

The House Committee Chairman on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Jemili Akingbade gave the task  in continuation of the House Committee oversight visits to Sagamu and Obafemi-Owode Local Government Councils, stressing the need for them to  explore innovative revenue-boosting strategies for increased revenue for the third tier of government.

He also emphasized the importance of ensuring proper documentation and adherence to relevant procedures in all their operations, while directing the councils to provide comprehensive records of all ongoing and completed projects, including cost implications, bills of quantity and records of projects approved by the relevant authorities.

The Chairman in company of other Committee members, including Honourables Sobunkola Olakunle, Adegoke Adeyanju, Oluseun Adesanya, Dickson Awolaja, Lukman Adeleye, Damilola Soneye and Yusuf Sherrif reiterated the need for collaboration between council chairmen and career officers to achieve the objectives of their respective budgetary provisions.


Responding, the Executive Chairman, Sagamu Local Government Council, Mr. Jubril Odulate, commended the lawmakers for the oversight visit, describing it as a crucial mechanism for ensuring compliance to accountability and transparency for promoting good governance.

On his part, the Executive Chairman of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Council, Mr. Adesina Ogunsola, reiterated his administration’s commitment to grassroots development through people oriented projects with emphasis on transparency and effective service delivery.
