Ogun State Government has empowered young persons under the Enterprise for Youth in Agriculture Programme with a grant of N5 million and 2.5 hectares of land for farming project, as part of strategic moves to enhance food production and create more jobs within the agric-value chain in the state
The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo on Tuesday in Abeokuta, issued another cheque of N2.5 million to participants of cohort seven, having issued similar cheque of N2.5million earlier to young farmers from Ogun state who participated in Enterprise For Youth In Agriculture, a training programme organized by SOILLESS FARM LAB at Awowo in Ewekoro Local Government Area of the State
The Commissioner also presented two copies of survey plan for 2.5 hectares of land approved by the Prince Dapo Abiodun's government to both participants of the two sets of young farmers ,to enable them to cultivate and begin their farming project as young entrepreneur in agricultural business
Owotomo urged young agriculture entrepreneurs to take advantage of rare training programme at SOILLESS FARM LAB, to begin a very bright future in agric-business , pledging the State Government's continuous support for them
The Commissioner who lauded the technical support of SOILLESS FARM LAB for its continuous commitment to "Enterprise For Youth In Agriculture" initiative targeted at producing 10,
000 young entrepreneurs in agric sector, expressed confidence in members of both cohort six and seven who are indigenes of the State, saying they have what it takes to further boost food production in the state
Similarly Permanent Secretary in the ministry ,Mrs Kehinde Jokotoye had earlier expressed her passion for youths who have interest in agriculture, saying the future is very bright for them in agriculture , considering the leading position of Ogun in the sector among other states in Nigeria
SOILLESS FARM LAB Social Mobilization Officer, Mr. Paul Okwara and Consultant, Akin Alabi in their separate remarks, expressed appreciation to the Ogun State Government for keying into the initiative to develop young minds and produce entrepreneurs since 2023 , while encouraging the beneficiaries to make good use of skills acquired during the training to transform economic landscape of the State
High point of the event included presentation of cheque and issuance of survey plans for the approved 2.5 hectares of the land to kick-start farming project
Esther Popoola on behalf of the beneficiaries, promised to justify the effort of the State Government in ensuring food security and bright future for them as young entrepreneur in agricultural business
