2025 Hajj: Ogun Muslim Council Commends NAHCON On Inaugural Flight From Owerri

Ogun' State Muslim Council,(OMC) has  commended the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on its historic decision to designate Owerri, the Imo State capital in South East part of the country as the departure point for the 2025 Inaugural Hajj flight.

Secretary-General of the State Muslim Council, Asiwaju Kamal'deen Akintunde,(Esq.) who gave the commendation in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews on Thursday, described the move as a significant development for Islam in the country, saying it is the first time in recent memory that the Inaugural flight is departing from a state with a relatively smaller Muslim population.

" It is a laudable step toward promoting interfaith understanding, national unity, and inclusivity", he stated

Akintunde, a former National President of
National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO), also lauded Governor Hope Uzodima for his proactive support and commitment to the welfare of intending pilgrims from Imo state

Gov.Uzodima efforts according to him, are a testament to the spirit of religious tolerance and cooperation that the country greatly needs.

"This inclusive gesture by NAHCON reflects a commendable shift in policy direction and sets a positive precedent for future Hajj operations across the country", the statement concluded
