Vice-Chancellor of Nigeria's premier university, Professor Kayode Oyebode Adebowale gave the charge during a recently held Matriculation Ceremony at the International Conference Centre
The Vice-Chancellor at the event marked by a solemn oath taking ceremony where the Freshers swore the oath of studentship as administered by the Registrar, University of Ibadan, also urged them to leave the institution better than they met it , stressing the need to prioritize excellence in their activities on campus
Similarly, Dr. Olukayode Abiola Ayenuyo, a Veterinary Medicine Alumnus of the university in his keynote address at the event,advised the students to do everything as they start their journey in school, saying no knowledge is a waste
"Embrace doing everything, no knowledge is lost. Find your fascination [and] be intentional in all that you do.” he advised
He further encouraged them to find balance in everything and to not just go through the motions.
“When you just go through the motion, you lose sight of any greater purpose.”
The keynote speaker was reported by a campus journal to have donated a sum of Five Million Naira to the University
Those in attendance at the event included management staff as well as leadership of Student Union Government and faculty Deans
Well-wishers and parents were in attendance as the 4,633 admitted students were matriculated into the institution.
Also in attendance was the Vice Chancellor and other staff of the University Management, who oversaw the ceremony, the Student Union Leadership led by the President as well as faculty Deans.
