Ogun State Government has assured investors in its Forestry industry of continuous support, to enable them have huge returns on their investment.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Forestry, Dr. Adekunle Oyesanwen, who gave the assurance during the maiden familiarisation visit to Oja-Odan and Ilobi in Yewa South and Yewa North Local Government Areas respectively, reinstated government's commitment towards supporting any investment that would have positive impact on the economy of the State
He added that government’s commitment to tree planting and aggressive afforestation in all government reserves in the three senatorial district would not be compromised.
At Nissen Agricultural Development Company, Oja-Odan, Dr. Oyesanwen, appreciated the company's courage to do business in Nigeria, urging it to maximise opportunities at its disposal considering climate conditions while clearing land for planting.
In addition, the company was also admonished to submit workplan on a regular basis to the Ministry’s Headquarters, adding that it would enable government to know areas it would need to assist.
“I will also advise that you submit workplan to the Ministry, this can be done either quarterly or yearly, the step will enable government to know how you are performing and intervened where necessary. In due course, government will invite you and others to a top level meeting in Abeokuta," he said.
He however promised government assistance in addressing some of the major challenges raised by the company's management.
Responding, the Chairperson of Nissen Agric. Development Company, (A Chinese Wood Manufacturing Company), Mrs. Lee Shuan, commended the Permanent Secretary and his entourage for the visit which she noted would spur them to do more. She further pointed out that, young indigenes of the Community often turned down employment opportunities given to them by the company, noting that it was one of the major challenges confronting the company
Lee, who spoke through an interpreter, urged government to prevail on the community to take advantage of the employment opportunities at their disposal.
Other investors visited by the Permanent Secretary and his entourage were; Atlantic Briscoe Farms and Mekkidhen Nigeria Limited.
Highlight of the visit was the Ministry's engagement with the Bales and farmers at Aba-Teacher, Yewa South Local Government Area.
