Katsina Utd Force Remo Stars To Barren Draw In Ikenne Remo After 6-0 Humiliation By Ikorodu City In Lagos




Visiting Katsina United held leaders, Remo Stars to a barren draw in a week 33 match of the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL played on Sunday in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State 

The 17th placed Katsina based side with 41 points were earlier humiliated by home side, Ikorodu City who thrashed them 6-0 in a previous rescheduled week 32 match, before putting up an impressive performance against the Daniel Ogunmodede tutored Skye Blue Stars at Remo Stars International Stadium 

Remo Stars marginally consolidated on their lead on the table with 62 points , seven points clear, ahead of the second placed Rivers United of Port Harcourt with 55 points who suffered a loss to Abia Warriors who won 2-0 in Umuahia to maintain their third position and quest for Continental ticket with 53 points 

The rampaging Ikorodu City retained their fourth position with 52 points, after whipping visitors, Niger Tornadoes of Minna 3-0 in Lagos with a brace from Cole in the 70th and Stoppage time and a goal from Adelani in the 88th minute , leaving Tornadoes in the 12th position with 43 points 

Bendel Insurance of Benin-city moved up to the fifth spot with 49 points after securing the maximum three points in a lone-goal win on the road against Kwara United of Ilorin who dropped to the 11th position with 43 points 

Shooting Stars further dropped to the sixth position with 48 points, after their disappointing outing in Yenegoa to Bayelsa United who hammered them 3-0, to climb to the 10th position with 45 points 

Kano Pillars are currently occupying the seventh position with 47 points, after their 2-0 win against Lobi Stars of Markudi who are languishing at the bottom of the table with 25 points 

Defending champions Enugu Rangers dropped further to the eighth position with 46 points after being humiliated by visiting Heartland of Owerri who 2-0 in an Oriental derby 

The Emmanuel Amunike tutored side are occupying the 16th position with 41 points after the win against arch rivals, Enugu Rangers 

It was a disappointing week 33 match for Coach Stanley Eguma as Enyimba International of Aba fell to home side, Sunshine Stars of Akure who managed a 2-1 win but remained in the relegation water in the 19th position with 38 points while the Aba Elephants are on the ninth spot with 46 points 

Nasarawa United of Lafia continued with their improved performance in the 14th position with 42 points after their 3-2 win in the keenly contested tie against visiting Plateau United of Jos who are still ahead in the 13th position with the same number of points 

Relegation threatened Akwa United of Uyo are in the 18th position with 38 points after settling for a one-all draw with the visiting El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri occupying the 15th position with 42 points
