20 Years Of Lisa Plane Crash: Oba Odugbemi Worries Over Deplorable Road, Appeals For Ogun Govt's Assistance



The Onilisa of Lisa in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State, Oba Nojeemdeen Oladele Odugbemi has expressed concern over the deplorable condition of the major access road to the Lisa Memorial Arcade , the site constructed by government almost 20 years ago in memory of the victims of Belview Plane crash incident in October, 2005 

Oba Odugbemi featuring on a recent radio programme monitored by Edu-Biznews in Abeokuta, also appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to reconstruct the road, a major access road linking the area to Ijoko near Lagos and 22 other towns and villages 

The monarch lamented that the dilapidated condition of the road has seriously crippled commercial activities in the area , saying people including farmers and traders rely solely on commercial motorcycle as mode of transportation for farm products to the market

The traditional ruler who recalled his personal efforts at carrying out palliative on the access road to make it a bit motor able for motorists , added that the terrible condition of the road has also crippled his pure water factory in the area 

The Lisa Memorial Arcade according to him, is a major tourist attraction, which has been attracting hundreds of tourists within and outside Nigeria particularly families of the victims daily 

Oba Odugbemi however says the sorry State of the road is preventing tourists from accessing the Memorial Arcade as well as investors and those interested in investing in agriculture potentials of Lisa 

The monarch expressed confidence that complete rehabilitation of the road would enhance the development of area and expand the revenue based of the Ogun State Government, considering the increasing influx of people into Lisa 

He disclosed that government had last year sent an inspection team from the State Ministry Culture and Tourism to assess the situation of the access road to the Memorial Arcade, with the aim of addressing the problem 

"We are hopeful that Governor Abiodun as a promise keeping governor will reconstruct the road before the end of his administration in the state in 2027 by the grace of God", Oba Odugbemi stated  


The Onilisa then called on the people in Lisa to always support government at all levels in the interest of development and economic growth of the area 

Governor Abiodun  presented Staff of Office to Oba Odugbemi during his coronation as Onilisa of Lisa on the 27th of March, 2025 

The monarch is loved by his people for being a generous and non-biased traditional ruler who treats every individual equally irrespective of ethnic or religious affiliation
