Ogun Muslim Council, Scholar Call For Unity... Laud Members Of Abeokuta North LGA Chapter For Championing Oneness In Islam




Top leaders of the Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC) including its Secretary General, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde, Egba Zone Chairman of the council, Alhaji Abdul -Hakeem Tunji Kalejaiye and prominent Islamic Scholar, Dr. Afeez Musa have strongly advocated for unity among Muslims, warning them against fanning the ember of disunity capable of weakening the strength of Islam in Nigeria, particularly in the state 

They however lauded the numerous efforts of members of Abeokuta North Local Government Area chapter of OMC for championing the crusade for oneness of Muslims with emphasis on promotion of common mode of worship and Islamic teachings as clearly stated in the Quran and Sunnah of  holy Prophet, Mohammed peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and entire Muslim ummah 

Dr. Musa speaking as a guest lecturer on Wednesday at the 2025 Ramadan Iftaar/ Tafseer organized by the Abeokuta North Local Government chapter of the State Muslim Council held inside Gbagura Central Mosque, stressed the importance of unity of Islam, urging Muslims to always focus more on things that strengthen Islam and pay less attention on those things which can easily divide Muslims and weaken their efforts at making the religion stronger than before 

The scholar addressing the topic "Unity and Togetherness" : The Strength of Muslims ", expressed concern that Muslims now give more attention to  issues that caused disaffection among Muslims , stressing the need for them to be strictly guided by teachings in the holy Quran and Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed through which Allah has perfected mode of worship (As-Salat and other four pillars of Islam 


He urged them to be tolerant and always encourage others to understand principles of Islam more , in order to ensure unity and promote Islamic values and teachings 

Similarly Scribe of the State Muslim Council , Alhaji Akintunde was full of appreciation for the leadership of Abeokuta North Local Government chapter of the council which has largest population of Muslims for using this year's Iftaar/ Tafseer to promote oneness in Islam as one of the core-objectives of Ramadan fasting 




According to him, only in unity that Muslims can make progress and move Islam forward 

"All of us must work together to move Islam forward in Ogun State and Nigeria at large", he submitted 

Also the Chairman of Egba Zone of the State Muslim Council, Alhaji Kalejaiye cautioned  Muslims against establishing a parallel body to OMC , saying every Muslim must rally round the council and speak with one voice on issues affecting the practice of Islam in the state 




Kalejaiye who acknowledged the effort of Abeokuta North Local Government Area chapter in promotion of unity among Muslims, however reminded members on the need to be committed to the actualization of the objectives of Board of Trustees of Zakat and Sadaqah established by the zone to provide financial support for Muslims to grow their respective businesses and provide scholarship awards for young Muslims to pursue their education up till  tertiarty institutions in the country 


Earlier, Co-ordinator of the Abeokuta North Local Government Area chapter of the State Muslim Council, Alhaji Mushafar Alaran emphasised the need for oneness among Muslims, saying the chapter had successfully organized similar event in Oke-Ona Egba and Owu before the event held in Gbagura to strengthen Islam in various communities within the local government area 

The event attracted Chief Imam of Gbagura, Emeritus Professor, Kamaldeen Balogun represented by Mufasir of Gbagura, Alhaji Daud Toriola amongst others clerics and prominent Muslims within the chapter 

Food package were later distributed to Muslims for breaking of their fast
