The Ogun State Ministry of Forestry has been commended for surpassing its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for years 2023 and 2024.
The Chairman, House Committee on Account and Anti-Corruption, Hon. Damilare Bello, gave the commendation in Abeokuta, while addressing the management of the Ministry led by the Commissioner, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun, before the committee for year 2023 statutory report of the State Auditor-General, urging the agency to sustain the feat achieved on IGR for the overall development of the State.
He admonished the agency to ensure speedy attention to issues of invasion and destruction of forests and its resources by invaders from neighbouring States, lauding the Ministry in the area of tree planting.
The Committee Members advised the Ministry to ensure all operational vehicles of the Ministry were captured for insurance in the next year's budget, to forestall any eventuality.
Responding, Engr. Oludotun appreciated the Committee members for the invitation, saying, it would enable management of the Ministry clear grey areas in their revenue generation drive, noting that the invitation would further ensure proper co-ordination of all forest reserves in the State.
