Ogun Assembly Issues Fresh Summon To Six Quarry Companies Over Workers' Petition



Ogun State House of Assembly  has issued a fresh summon to management teams of six companies operating various quarry sites across the state, following a petition filed by workers under the aegis of Nigerian Union of Mine Workers in the state 

The companies including Andy CNC Quarry and Max Sanxin Quarry, Ijebu-Ode as well as Sino Trust/Multiverse Quarry and Huaya Quarry, IMOSAN are expected to appear before the house at its Oke-Mosan,Abeokuta complex on Thursday, 3rd April, 2025 at 2.00pm to respond to the issues raised in the petition 

The House Committee Chairman on Industry, Trade and Investment, Hon. Adebisi Oyedele issued the summon on Monday, shortly after an interface with two out of the six affected quarries that attended the meeting

The Committee Chairman warned others who failed to attend the meeting that the Assembly would not hesitate to invoke section 129 of the nation's constitution to issue a warrant on them to attend.

He noted that though mining activities were under the exclusive list but the issues raised by the petitioner bothered on welfare, peaceful  co-existence and consumer protection which needs to the addressed.

He commended the representatives of the two companies who attended the meeting, reiterating that the State Assembly would continue to carry out its quasi-judicial function to promote peace and tranquility in all parts of the State.
