New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) has described the suspension of a Senator and other members of the National Assembly on the platform of the party as a ruse saying such action was allegedly taken by Kwankwasia group led by the 2023 presidential candidate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso who has been expelled from the party
On Monday, the Kano State chapter of the NNPP was reported in the media to have announced the suspension of Senator Kawu Sumaila, who represents Kano South District, along with three members of the House of Representatives—Rep. Ali Gini, Rep. Sani Rogo, and Rep. Kabiru Rurum.
But the National Secretary of NNPP, Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday speaking with newsmen on the purported suspension of the NNPP's Senator and National Assembly Members, dismissed the suspension
Oginni blasted Kwankwaso saying he should stop parading himself as a leader of the party, having been expelled from the party and as such lacked the power to suspend those he described as bonafide and authentic leaders of NNPP
"NNPP would have not bothered to respond to what it considered as nothingness from the drowning Kwankwaso's political dynasty. However, the party regret to note that the public may be misled by an ardent and perpetual group of Kwankwasia who do not believe in the rule of law and public order", the party's scribe stated
"In the interest of public order and peace of the society, the New Nigeria People's Party for the upteenth time wish to clarify again that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso led kwankwasiya movement and its members have been expelled from the New Nigeria people's Party , therefore, they lack locus to act or speak on behalf of the party", he insisted
The memorandum of understanding between NNPP and the kwankwasiya movement according to him, has been terminated after 2023 general election .
"It is on record that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between NNPP and kwankwasiya movement was only with the assents of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima as representatives of their groups namely the Kwankwasia and the TNM"
"The undeniable fact is that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima were mere representatives of kwankwasiya movement and the national movement respectively hence their signatures on the memorandum of understanding of 2022 with the NNPP."
He described as worrisome, the activities of the group even after the alleged termination of. MOU with the party
"It is however worrisome that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima are shamelessly parading themselves as interlopers in NNPP's affairs at the moment knowing fully well that the contract of the Memorandum of understanding have been terminated", he clarified
"It is also a fact that the Abia State High court on the 1st of November ,2024 had terminated NNPP and kwankwasiya movement memorandum of understanding. The court went ahead to compel INEC to handover the administration and leadership of NNPP to Dr Aniebonam Boniface Okechukwu, the Chairman Board of Trustees and Founder of the New Nigeria People's Party" .
"The New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) is using this medium to appeal to the general public most especially Kano State indigenous people to disregard whatever the kwankwasiya members who are masquerading as NNPP members are saying as false and misleading"
The NNPP however pleaded with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other political parties including APC and PDP to discard whatever comment or actions taken by kwankwasiya movement led by Senator Rabiu Musa
"In the same vein, we are appealing to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and our sister political parties- APC and PDP to equally disregard whatever kwankwasiya movement led by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso are saying as false and a ruse . The fact on the point of law today is that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was long expelled from NNPP and he is therefore partyless"
The New Nigeria People's Party hereby reiterate that the Senator and Hon members who were alleged to have been suspended by Kwankwasia are full fledged and bonafide elected members of the new Nigeria people's party . The Kwankwasia led by drowning and shameless Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has no constitutional power to delve into NNPP's affairs. We therefore urge the leadership of the National Assembly to note that the Convention of New Nigeria People's Party has passed a vote of confidence on all our elected National Assembly Members including Senator Suleiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila, Hon.Aliyu Sani Madaki Gini, Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, Hon. Sani Abdulahi Rogo and others"
It is so disheartening and embarrassing that senator Rabiu musa KWANKWASO and Elder Buba Galadima can be making unguided utterances capable of threatening the peace and security of Nigeria as a Nation. The New Nigeria People's Party NNPP hereby dissociate ourselves from reckless and unguided statements capable of causing public unrest by Kwankwasia and their leaders namely Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Elder Buba Galadima. NNPP as a law abiding political party is now calling on the Department of State Security Services to invite Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Buba Galadima for questioning " he concluded.
