Associates Of Suspended Olorile of Orile-Ifo Decry His Continuous Remand In Prison Custody For Alleged Assault

Associates of the suspended Olorile of Orile-Ifo in Ogun State, Oba Semiu Adewale Ogunjobi who is standing trial for alleged assault of a 73 year-old, Abraham Areola, have suspected a foul play in the continuous remand of the monarch at Correctional Centre in Ilaro

The traditional ruler who was arrested and arraigned by the Ogun State Police Command before a Magistrate Court sitting in Ifo on Monday, was later on Tuesday  granted a bail by Magistrate F.A Iroko on the bail condition of N5million with two sureties in like sum who must  residents within Ifo

It was subsequently widely reported in the media that the monarch was unable to perfect the bail condition which led to being remanded in the Correctional Centre in Ilaro according to the Spokesperson of the State Correctional facilities, Yinka Odukoya

But close associates of the 43 year-old monarch in an interview with newsmen on Friday denied such comment , claiming that every effort being made to perfect the bail condition was frustrated by the Police Prosecutor Inspection Officer in charge of the matter with the support of a top politician within Ifo area

The associates who pleaded anonymity, claimed that the grand plan of those behind the frustration, was to keep the traditional ruler perpetually in Correctional Centre, even after his suspension by Ogun State Government and Egba Traditional Council

They alleged  some  top officials of the court of conspiring to make the bail condition difficult for them to perfect, to enable the court release the monarch on bail for the continuation of the trial adjourned till March 6, 2025

They maintained that everything was humanly done to perfect the bail condition of N5million with two sureties in the like sum on the said day , Tuesday February 4, 2025, to ensure the release of the monarch on bail which did not happen

The suspended Olorile of Orile-Ifo according to a charge sheet with number MH2b8c/2025 Commissioner of Police Vs Abdul-Semiu, was arraigned on a thee- count charge of conspiracy, assault and conduct likely to cause breach of peace, punishable under section 249(d)of the Ogun State Criminal Code Law 2006 which the monarch pleaded not guilty
