Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mariam Oloko, Iyalode of Ifo, Alhaja Nosirat Alabi and other individuals have lauded "Back To School Project" of Sisters-In-Council of the State chapter of National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations(NACOMYO), saying the initiative will inspire each of the benefiting students from selected secondary schools across the state to sustain the culture of academic excellence
Salako-Oyedele who was represented by her office's Head of Protocol, Hajia Kafayat Soliu-Oyeleye, pledged continuous support for the initiative whose maiden edition held on Thursday in Abeokuta, saw brilliant and indigent students from 26 public and private collecting school bags and exercise books to support their educational pursuits
She urged the beneficiaries to continue to sustain high standard in their studies while enjoining them to always be good ambassadors of Islam, by upholding the high Islamic morals and values in their schools
Similarly the Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Education Science Technology represented by a top official, Mrs Tawakat Sotunyo appreciated the NACOMYO Sisters-In-Council for complimenting the efforts of the government with such free note books and school bags
Also mother of the day at the event,Alhaja Nosirat Alabi charged the benefiting students to always be serious with their educational pursuits, by striving to be the best in everything they do
She encouraged them to always set career goals, by projecting where they want to be in the next 10 years and be focused on actualization of such goals
Ogun State Co-ordinator of NACOMYO, Alhaji Bariu Kehinde Lawal who commended the initiative of the Sisters in Council of the organization, however urged the beneficiaries to always be good ambassadors of Islam by upholding high moral values and sustaining high standard of academic performance
Amirah of the State chapter of NACOMYO Sisters-In-Council, Alhaja Monsurat Adeniregun had earlier explained that the "Back To School" programme was aimed supporting stakeholders in providing access to education for indigent students who should never be denied education because of their state, nay the economic status of their parents or guardians
""This educational support entails presentation of educational materials that will aid learning and encourage indigent learners to have equal opportunities to education "
"Beneficiaries cut across the three Senatorial districts of Ogun State and with no religious bias or discrimination ", she stated
Education according to her, is the foundation upon which future of the society rests
"It is through education that we can empower the youth, equip them with the necessary tools that will make them to be useful to the society and pave the way for brighter tomorrow "
The Amirah who described the initiative as heartwarming, said that the objective of the programme was to bridge the gap and offer support to indigent leaners who are eager to learn and develop their potentials
"Every child has the potential to achieve greatness, if given the opportunity and the resources they need to thrive by investing in education, we are investing in a better future for all", she stated
The Amirah showered encomium on the Deputy Governor who is a Grand Patroness of NACOMYO for huge contributions, sponsoring the provision of Exercise books and Alhaji Rafiu Ebiti's Ibeji Foundation whose funds aided the provision of bags among other numerous supporters of the initiative
She urged the beneficiaries to cherish the gifts and make the better use of the opportunities
High point of the event was presentation of school bags and exercise books to the students from selected public and private secondary schools across the state
Acting Head of Agriculture Administration Department, Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB) , Dr.Adefunke Fadilat Ayinde speaking on the theme of the event " Integrating Career Aspiration With Spiritual Values, urged the students to always strike a balance between their chosen careers and worshipping Allah as Muslims
Special prayer was offered for the Deputy Governor who celebrated her birthday recently before her departure from Nigeria for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian to perform Umrah (Lesser Hajj) in Mekkah
Prayer was also offered for the success of Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration in the state
