Ireede-Oginni Grassroots Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organization has lauded the initiative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose administration has introduced a company, National Credit Guarantee Company, as part of strategic moves to address the current hardship being experienced by Nigerians, especially the escalating prices of food items and drugs in the country.
President Tinubu who announced the establishment of the company on Wednesday in his 2025 New Year’s Message to Nigerians, also said that the move would assist the Federal Government in encouraging local manufacturers to produce essential drugs and other medical supplies in the New Year.
Founder of the foundation, Chief (Hon.) Funmilayo Ireede-Oginni reacting in her new year message, urged President Tinubu to walk the talk, by ensuring that the company begins operations before end of the second quarter of 2025 as promised by him
The foundation while felicitating Nigerians for witnessing 2025 with hope in the new message, also asked tasked the Tinubu's administration to facilitate seamless partnership of the new company with government institutions, including the Bank of Industry, BOI, Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Agency, NSIA, the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, the private sector and multilateral institutions as promised
The Chief Executive of emerging conglomerate, "Terra Integrated Services Limited", said actualizing this would enable the company to support local companies who are into food processing to produce massively and bring down the cost of food items being sold in the markets
Equally such support by the company would assist the local pharmaceutical companies to produce massive drugs for hospitals to make them affordable for Nigerians
The NGO in the message, also asked government at all levels to compliment efforts of the Federal Government by focusing more on how to improve on the agriculture to produce more foods and make them affordable for the masses
Funmilayo Ireede-Oginni who is also the Co-founder of Future Promise Group of Schools, Abeokuta in the Ogun State capital, re-assured that her foundation would continue to support the brilliant children from poor families with scholarship awards to enable them actualize their dreams in the future
She also expressed the commitment of her foundation to the empowerment of less priviledged women in rural communities in Ogun State, through provision of grants to support or start small scale businesses to assist their respective families
The Ireede-Oginni Grassroots Foundation urged Nigerians to put the agonizing experience of economic hardship of 2024 behind and be hopeful of prosperity in the new year of 2025
