Displaced villagers in Saari/ Akoore in Atan Community of Ado-Odo/Otta Local Government Area of Ogun State have called on Governor Dapo Abiodun to rescue them from one Mr Elijah, Whom they accused of leading suspected land grabbers who invaded the community and forcefully took over their ancestral land, threatening to kill all village heads.
The villagers were seen in a peaceful demonstration, displaying placards with various bold inscriptions of save our messages to Governor Abiodun
Baale of Saari, Alhaji Aremu Tijani and Balogun of Saari , Chief Rafiu Salako who took turns to speak on behalf of the villagers, re-echoed the save our soul messages during a press brief held in Abeokuta on Thursday, where they also accused one of the Special Advisers to the governor, Chief Jide Ojuko of being behind Elijah to carry out the dastardly act in the community
The villagers according to Baale of Saari, fled away from the village in 2023 for safety when their lives were being threatened by the suspected land grabbers who attempted to kill all the village heads.
Alhaji Aremu Tijani who was narrating the ordeal of the villagers, lamented
that since 2023 they have been chased away from their various homes in the village by the sponsors of the land grabbers who are constantly dragging them to court over the disputed landed property belonging to Saari/Akoore community as stated in the documented survey plan produced by the Ogun State Bureau of Land and Survey dated 21st of March, 2022 and attested by the State High Court in Ota
Tijani disclosed that he left the village with no clothes because of the attempt threats to his life by one Mr. Elijah whom he alleged was assigned by Chief Ojuko to be monitore activities of villagers in the community
He called on all traditional rulers in Egba land to rescue their descendants from the hands of Awori, whom they claimed wanted to force them to be subjects by all means.
Similarly the Balogun of Saari chief Rafiu Salako accused sponsors of the suspected land grabbers of using police officers to harass, arrest and even summoned stakeholders continuously to court
He added that they withdrew court cases because it didn't favour them, since they were aware that the stakeholders in the village have facts as regards the authenticity of the disputed landed property in the village which belongs to Akoore community already validated by the court under the Ota Division of the Ogun State High Court
According to him" We have been chased out of our village since 2023 with guns and other dangerous projectiles, in our village at Saari/ Akoore a township Gbaalefa, which belongs to Egba.
"Before now, they have been coming and when we see them, we report to the government to come to our rescues but now, they have come with forces of policemen and dragging us from one police station to another".
"We went to Abuja because of this matter, they refused to appear before the IGP, and they even shot sporadically at police. We are calling on the state government and other relevant stakeholders to help us from Abiodun's SA Hon. Jide Ojuko, and Johnson Adeleye who are supporting landgrabbers against us".
