Rivers Utd Return To Summit Of NPFL As Ikorodu City Force Remo Stars To 1-1 Draw In Lagos



Rivers United of Port Harcourt returned to the summit of Nigeria Premier Football League with 32 points, after a hard earned 2-1 win against visiting Kwara United of Ilorin in a week 17 match played on Sunday 

The pride of Rivers had to come back from a goal down in the 18th minutes through goals from Zechariah and Benjamin in the 53rd and 59th minutes respectively to secure the vital maximum three points to move ahead of Remo Stars, dropping the Ilorin Afonja Warriors to 13th position with 20 points 

In Lagos, home side , Ikorodu City forced Remo Stars of Ikenne Remo to a one-all draw, after Chinonso's late goal in the 90th minute saw both sides sharing  the available points as the Skye Blues Stars dropped to second position with 30 points while the Ikorodu City are placed sixth on the table with 25 points 

Defending champions, Enugu Rangers moved to the third position with 28 points after holding home side, Katsina United who are currently placed 14th with 20 points, to a barren draw 

Shooting Stars of Ibadan climbed to the fourth position with 27 points, after recording an impressive 2-0 win against visiting Kano Pillars in a match played on Saturday 

The Pillars dropped to the 10th position with 22 points while El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri are in currently in the fifth position with 26 points, after thrashing their visitors, Abia Warriors 3-0 who dropped to the 12th position with 21 points 

Niger Tornadoes of Minna moved to the seventh position with 24 points after a comprehensive 4-1 demolition of their visitors , Sunshine Stars of Akure who are occupying 18th position with 18 points struggling to survive relegation 

Bayelsa United of Yenegoa are in the eight position with the same number of points after their 2-1 win against bottom placed Akwa United of Uyo with mere 16 points 

The match between ninth placed Enyimba International of Aba with 22 points and Narawa United of Lafia in the 17th position with 18 points has been rescheduled to hold on Thursday December 19 in Aba 

In Owerri, Heartland remain at the middle of table in Nigeria's top-flight league, occupying 11th position with 21 points after settling for a one-all draw with visiting Bendel Insurance of Benin city who are still swimming in relegation water currently in the 19th position with just 17 points 

Lobi Stars of Makurdi maintained its steady rise on the table, placing 15th with 19 points, after narrow lone-goal win against visiting Plateau United of Jos in a middle belt derby.

Plateau United are closely behind on the 16th spot with 18 points with two matches remaining in the first-half of the elite  league
