Ogun State Government has rewarded three students in public schools for winning laurels at a recently concluded
National Essay Competition
The outstanding students include Opeyemi Ayebusiwa from Lomiro High School, Lomiro in Ogun Water Side, Success Oloyede from Baptist Boys High School, Saje Abeokuta and Firdaus Adeyemi of Ahmadiya Science College Ilaro, who came 3rd, 5th and 6th respectively in the online Essay Competition powered by Zmirage.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology,Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu during the presentation of scholarship cash award promised by the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to the winners, sanys investment in education by the present administration has begun to yield multiple results, following the impressive performance of the students
‘’We are proud of our learners who keep on winning laurels both in national and international Competitions, the competition was held, so many students participated and our learners from the rural public schools won awards, we need to congratulate this government and the teachers’’, he said.
Speaking earlier, the Producer, Wole Soyinka International Cultural Exchange Children Programme, Ms Lynda Amadi said 1000 learners from 23 states participated in the competition organised to exhibit creativity in reading, Craft Painting, cultural dance, hair making, among others in commemoration of the Nobel laureate, Prof. Soyinka's 90th birthday held in July, saying it was the first record in fifteen years that Ogun public schools learners would emerge with outstanding result in the competition.
In another development, the Commissioner charged Old Students Associations to redouble their efforts in contributing towards school’s development so as to create a conducive Teaching and learning environment, saying it would promote peaceful coexistence, prevent youth from becoming miscreants in the society.
He made the charge while playing host to the Executive Members of the Old Student Association of Sanni Luba College, from Ijebu-Ode who were at his office in Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, saying the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration was committed to ensuring provision of qualitative and accessible education to the citizenry and would continue to give maximum support to individuals and associations willing to contribute their quota towards taking education to an enviable height.
Earlier in his comment, Leader of the Association, Prof. Sesan Nafiu commended the Ministry on its remarkable initiatives and innovations that showcases the state as a leading light among other states of the federation, promising that they would continue to support the government in building a desirable future for the sector.
