Remo Stars, Rivers Utd Sustain Lead In NPFL After Barren Draw, As Rangers Compound Bendel Insurance's Woes

Remo Stars of Ikenne Remo and Rivers United of Port Harcourt maintained their first and second positions with 23 points and 22 points respectively, after both sides settled for a barren draw in a week 12 match of Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL played on Sunday

The Skye Blue stars who had earlier drew with Enyimba International of Aba , were held to their second consecutive draw by the visiting Finidi George tutored side from Port Harcourt in the crucial encounter held inside the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State

Similarly Enyimba retained its third position on the table with 20 points, after settling for a one-all draw with home side , Abia Warriors now occupying 13th position with 15 points , after the local derby

Defending champions, Enugu Rangers moved up to the fourth position with 19 points after their 3-2 win against Bendel Insurance

The loss further compounded the woes of the Benin Arsenal currently languaging at the bottom of the table with just nine points after the three points deduction by the league organizers from the previous 12 points as part of punishment for the unruly conduct of its fans in the week 11 match against the visiting Kano Pillars who won 2-1 away from home

El-kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri moved up to the fifth position with the same 19 points after a lone-goal win against Niger Tornadoes currently in the ninth position with 17 points while Kano Pillars are on the sixth spot with 18 points after being held to a two-all draw by the highly improved Heartland of Owerri who moved up to tenth position with 16 points under the tutelage of Coach Emmanuel Amunike

Kwara United climbed to the seventh position with 17 points after a 2-O win against Plateau United of Jos who dropped to the 17th position with 12 points while debutants Ikorodu City continued with their impressive run , beating hard-fighting visiting Shooting Stars of Ibadan 2-1 in Lagos

The Ikorodu City climbed up the ladder to the eight position with 17 points while the Oluyole Warriors dropped to the 12th position with 15 points

Sunshine Stars of Akure also moved up to the eleventh position with 16 points following their lone-goal win against relegation threatened Lobi Stars of Makurdi who are still battling in the 19th position with 12 points

Bayelsa United of Yenegoa were held to one-all draw by the visiting Katsina United with both sides occupying the 14th and 15th positions with 14 and 13 points respectively on the table of Nigeria's top flight league

Akwa United of Uyo moved up to the 16th position with 12 points after a lone-goal win against Nasarawa United of Lafia currently in the 18th position with same number of points, struggling to survive relegation
