NNPP Leadership Crisis: Court Orders INEC To Recognize Board Of Trustees, Not Kwankwaso Factional Leadership

An Abia State High Court has ordered Independent National Electoral Commission to recognize only the leadership of Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria Peoples NNPP led by Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam as the legal Authority of the party, throwing confusion into the political camp of the 2023 presidential candidate of the party,
Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso whose faction before the court order was given due recognition by INEC

The National Secretary of NNPP, Comrade Sunday Olaposi Oginni who was reacting to the court order in a statement on Sunday, described it as a landmark ruling, claiming that the Proof of Service of the Judgement  was served on INEC by the Baliff of the Court

The court in the ruling dated 11th of November, 2024, said that the Board of Trustees should be in charge of every activities of NNPP,  including the holding of the National Working Committee meeting in line with its Constitution or any organ constituted by board, saying the NWC had failed to comply with Article 12 of the party's  constitution on holding of the monthly meetings

"The implications of this landmark judgement is that INEC is under Command of the Court to amend and update its records to reflect the decisions of the Board of Trustees of Dr Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam as regards the constitution of National Working Committee ( NWC) and other relevant organs of the Party.

New National Working Committee NWC of the Party according to Oginni, has been constituted and ratified by the Board of Trustees in tandem with the dictates of the Judgement of the Abia State High Court.

"The good news is that the compelling judgement of the Abia state high court is for INEC to recognise and deal with Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam, the Founder and Chairman Board of Trustees of the New Nigeria People's Party.
This simply means that INEC is under command to amend its records to reflect New development in NNPP", he stated

The National Secretary also made it clear that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso the self acclaimed leader of the New Nigeria People's Party was long ago expelled from the Party  with Elder Buba Galadima and the entire members of the National Working Committee  of Kwankwaso's group led by Dipo Olayoku , Kawu and Dr Ahmed Ajuji .

Oginni further made it clear that sudden end has come to what he described as  shenanigans of Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his unemployed characters who are adversely affected by the Abia High Court Judgement

He  noted that the Board of Trustees had confirmed that the Dr Agbo Major Gilbert led National Working Committee are the authentic leaders of the  of the New Nigeria People's Party.

Oginni then called on the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to as a matter of urgency make sure that the New Nigeria People's Party's records are amended and updated in accordance to the obedience to the Rule of Law .

It will be recalled that Kwankwaso , the two term former governor of Kano State in his bid to take over the structure of the party, had  earlier in this , organized a factional convention where the logo of the party was changed and new learnership elected and communicated to INEC for recognition

The party is only in control of Kano State in the country, under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuff who is also having a cold war with Kwankwaso for the soul of NNPP in the state
