Thirty-Four (34) successful Postgraduate (PGD) students and Masters Professionals in Social Work (MSW) of Lagos State University (LASU) have been inducted into the Chartered Institute of Social Work of Nigeria.
The Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, Professor Olufemi Lawal had before the induction held at the Entrepreneurial Lecture Theatre, main campus, Ojo, Lagos.
, called on the University Management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, to give the Faculty a full fledged department of Social Work.

"This induction is one good thing happening to our university. It is high time we had a full fledged social work department at the Faculty of Social Sciences. I know the Vice-Chancellor will expedite such request", he noted with confident
He admonished the inductees to go out there, be professional in the discharge of their duties, and be great ambassadors of the institute as well as Lagos State University.
Two lectures in the field of social work were delivered during the occasion. The topic *"Advocating for mental health and well-being in vulnerable populations"* was delivered by the Director, LASU Health Services, while the Executive Director, Bimbo Odukoya Foundation and Lagos State Coordinator, Child Protection Network, Mrs Aderonke Oyelakin spoke on the topic *"Strengthening families and child protection systems
Thereafter, the oath of allegiance and induction into the institute were performed with the assistance of the Head, Membership and Professional Services, Chartered Institute of Social Work of Nigeria, Dr Olawale Atere.
The event ended with a vote of thanks by the Coordinator, Postgraduate Social Work, LASU, Dr Bolawale Odunaike.
In attendance at the induction were the Acting Head, Sociology, FSS, LASU, Dr Oluranti Samuel, Protem Registrar, Chartered Institute of Social Work of Nigeria, Dr Kemi Ottun, and other well wishers.
The thirty-four (34) current Postgraduate Diploma students in Social Work and Master of Social Work (MSW) that succeeded in the membership examinations and various tests conducted by the Chartered Institute of Social Work of Nigeria and who fulfilled all the requirements were inducted.
