Ogun Assembly Issues Fresh Summon To Monarch Over Alleged Landgrabbing, Other Allegations In Obafemi-Owode Area

Ogun State House of Assembly has issued fresh summon to  the Olu of Obafemi, Oba Taofeek Owolabi Kayode to appear before it on  Wednesday, 10th July, 2023 in connection with an allegation of forcible entry on the landed properties belonging to some members of Agboro Latunde Community Development Association in Obafemi- Owode Local Government Area of the State

The Chairman, House Committee on Justice, Ethics and Public Petitions, Hon. Oluseun Adesanya, issued the summon  during a committee meeting with the representatives of the Community Development Association led by the Chairman, Chief Olaseni Adeoye and the Secretary Mr. Koyade Onitande at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Adesanya in company of other lawmakers, explained that the new summon to bring the monarch became imperative, as part of the quasi-judicial function of the Assembly and to give all concerned parties in the dispute, a fair hearing in accordance with the principle of the rule of law.

He stated that there were petitions against the monarch on alleged cases of land grabbing, threat to life and conduct likely to cause communal clash and genocide in Agboro Community

The house warned that failure to honour the invitation by the monarch would result in the Assembly requesting security operatives to take further appropriate steps.

Speaker of the house, Right Honourable Oludaisi Elemide recently expressed concern over the rising cases of Landgrabbing, which he described as worrisome and should be seriously tackled by security agencies
