The National Secretary of New Nigeria People's Party , Comrade Oginni Olaposi Sunday has rejected the recent news about the purported approval of the change of the party's logo by Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), describing the action as greatest robbery in Nigerian political history and an exercise in futility, which is an embarrassment to NNPP as a notable party in the country
National Publicity Secretary of the party Ladipo Johnson had on Thursday in a statement in Abuja, announced the approval of the new logo of NNPP by INEC, saying it is to create a new identity and reflect the relevance of the party in the national development of the country
But the National Secretary reacting to the controversial development, accused the party's 2023 presidential candidate , Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and those he described as unemployed characters of attempting to steal the soul of NNPP
Oginni described the action as a daylight robbery with the connivance of some corrupt and unscrupulous INEC officials, saying it is dead on arrival
Oginni who accused the former governor of Kano State of attempting to hijack the party, which according to him, is a biggest political robbery in Nigeria's history
"We are happy to tell fellow Nigerians that New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP) is a law abiding Political Party founded 22 years ago by Dr. Boniface Okechukwu Aniebonam", he stated
The National Secretary, however expressed confidence in the sanctity of Judiciary, adding that the leadership of the party has challenged the legality of the convention where the change of logo was proposed.
"It is our strong belief that the Judiciary will surely do their job speedily without any fear or favour"
"The act of impunity BY INEC under the watch of Prof. Mamoud Yakub is condemnable. The approval given by INEC to a group of Kwankwasia mauruding as NNPP is unacceptable. We challenge Prof. Mamoud Yakub and Kwankwaso to register another Political Party with their Kwankwasia name and logo with red colours rather the stealing of the intellectual property of NEW NIGERIA PEOPLE'S PARTY ( NNPP)"
"The collapse of these shameless Political robbers in the face of Judicial fireworks is imminent" he stated
Oginni then called on all NNPP's members home and abroad and all lovers of democracy to remain calm in the face of what he described as unnecessary provocations by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his unscrupulous INEC collaborators with the hope that the Nigerian Judiciary shall once again rise up to the occasion by setting the record straight as soon as possible.
Our logo remains Basket of Fruits and not the logo of Kwankwaso's Private school ...Oginni insisted.
