A fresh set of 519 Ogun State retired local government staff and primary school teachers have benefitted from another quarterly disbursement of N billion gratuity for 2024.
Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Local Government Pensions (BLGP), Engr. Olufisan Osiyale revealed this while fielding questions from newsmen in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta,
Osiyale pointed out that the present administration had promised to ensure prompt release of gratuity and payment of pension, to improve welfare and well-being of retirees.
"It must be emphatically stated that Prince Dapo Abiodun has been matching words with action, particularly with the way he has gone about the disbursement of gratuity to pensioners. Recall that in early April, there was a gratuity disbursement to take care of the first quarter of the year. In June, another N1 billion was also disbursed to these senior citizens, taking the number that have benefitted so far to Five Hundred and Nineteen (519) this year’’, BLGP boss said.
He added that the regular payment of monthly pensions and disbursement of gratuity to pensioners was part of the state government's effort to make senior citizens reap the fruit of their labour while alive.
Responding, two of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Comfort Oyetola and Mr. Rasak Fagbohun commended Governor Dapo Abiodun for the payment, while appreciating the Bureau for the conduct of the disbursement.
