A total of 8,477 fresh graduates of the Lagos State University Ojo have been cautioned against joining those who are fond of shortchanging the system for immediate or pecuniary gains in the country
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello who gave the words of advice on Wednesday during the Institution's 2022/2023 convocation held inside Buba Marw Main Auditorium, urged them to always train their minds to embrace diligence and honest labour in any situation
She expressed confidence in the competence of the fresh graduands to excel and be the best in whatever they do, saying the university had provided them with enough quality training and skills to succeed in the world of technologies
"I am confident that this university has given you all you need to succeed in the world. Never at any point doubt yourself; build your confidence and strive to be the best in what you do and you will take the world by storm. In addition, I urge you to stand out and be different everywhere you find yourselves", she urged
She implored them to take advantages of opportunities being provided by technologies by embracing it
I am confident that you have the requisite knowledge to take you through the challenges of a world in constant flux, shaped by evolving technologies; a world plagued by existential challenges. Yet, these challenges also offer abundant opportunities to demonstrate your creativity, resourcefulness, resilience and adaptability to difficult situations, no matter the odds"
High point of the event was the presentation of prizes to graduands with outstanding academic performances including overall best graduating student for the 2022/2023 academic session, Olaniyi Mubarak Olawale with CGPA of 4.98 from Faculty of Education and other best graduating students in various faculties
Those who excelled in the faculties included Aparaocha Charles Ayo with CGPA of 4.82 (Faculty of Arts) Department of Theatre Arts and Music, Jide-Jimoh Oluwatoyosi with GCPA of 4.68 (Faculty of Communication and Media Studies) Department of Mass Communication, Anene Peter with CGPA of 4.84 (Faculty of Engineering), Department of Chemical and Polymer Engineering, Olayiwola Sheriffdeen Ayodeji with GCPA of 4.52 (Faculty of Law) Department of Common/Civil Law as well as Osho Olumide Saheed with CGPA of 4.84 (Faculty of Management Sciences ) from Department of Marketing and Adelana Olorunishola Isiaha with CGPA of 4.77(School of Agriculture) Department of Agricultural Economic and Farm Management
Others presented with prizes for their exceptional performances in faculties included Dosunmu Olamilekan Emmanuel with CGPA of ,4.70(School of Transport And Logistics from Department of Transportation Management and Operations, Agiri Monisola Mary with CGPA of 4.87 (Faculty of Science ) Department of Biochemistry, Ajadi Sofiat Abike with CGPA of 4.76 (Faculty of Social Sciences), Department of Economics and Shobowale Rayyan Opeyemi with GCPA of 4.73(Faculty of Social Sciences) from Department of Psychology, Bankole Sarah with CGPA of 4.73 (Faculty of Basics Medical Science) from Department of Physiology, Olusola Oyindamola Samuel with CGPA 4.31( Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences) from Department of Pharmacology, Balogun Priscilla Modupe with CGPA of 4.66 (Faculty of Clinical Sciences) from Department of Nursing, Okoka Ellie Monisola (MBBS 17th set), (Faculty of Clinical Sciences) from Department of Medicine and Surgery as well as Okenwa Rejoice Chisom (MBBS 18th sets) (Faculty of Clinical Sciences from Department of Medicine and Surgery and Okoh Gloria Anuoluwapo (BDS 8th set) Faculty of Dentistry
Out of the 8,477 who bagged First Degree Honours, I53 finished with First Class Honours, 3,029 graduated with Second Class Upper Division, 4,350 bagged Second Class Lower Division, 715 finished in the Third Class Division while 33 graduated with pass
Others were 178 MBBS pass and 17 BDS pass
The convocation continues on the with award of post graduates degrees to graduands
