Ogun Govt Holds Spelling Bee Competition..Says It Is A Celebration Of Intelligence, Language Skills Among Students



The spelling Bee competition has been described as celebration of intelligence and language skills that serves as a testament to the commitment of the State Government to providing quality education and fostering the spirit of excellence among the students.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology in the State, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu stated this at the 2024 Ogun State Spelling Bee Championship final organised by the Ministry  in conjunction with Peak Brains consult.

Prof. Arigbabu represented by a Senior  Education Officer in the ministry, Mrs. Bolanle Idowu said each student that competed in the programme signified the immense potential and the bright future that lies ahead of the State education system.

He urged the students to develop love for learning and passion for knowledge while cultivating curiosity and eagerness to explore the  depths of human understanding.

"The spelling Bee competition embodies the spirit intellectual curiosity, it challenges students to explore the intricate nuances of language, to unravel the mysterious hidden within words,  it encourages students to dive deep into the pages of dictionaries, exploring etymologies and phonetics to become excellent spellers " Arigbabu said.

The royal father of the day, the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, HRM Oba (Dr.) Aremu Ghadebo represented by the Baamowe of Egbaland, Prof. Ajao Adelekan commended the participants for their exceptional efforts to participate and excel in the competition which he described as a testament to their dedication and resilience.

Over 250 students participated in the final of the competition with Speller Wasilat Bello coming first in the senior category and Speller Aisha Mustapha won in the junior category.
