NPFL :Remo Stars Keep Title Chase Alive, Beat Rivers Utd 2-1 In Ikenne-Remo




Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne-Remo in Ogun State on Monday kept their chase for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title alive , after beating hard fighting visitors, Rivers United of Port-Harcourt 2-1 in a rescheduled match played on Monday 

The Skye Blue side are now occupying the second position with 56 points, just a point behind leaders, Enugu Rangers with 57points, after 32 round of matches played in the Nigeria's top flight league with six matches to end the season

The Daniel Ogunmodede tutored side had to come from behind to win crucial encounter, after Okpe gave the visitors early lead from the penalty spot in the 19th before Haruna drew level for the homeside in the 67th minute of the tension soaked tie held at the Remo Stars International Stadium in Ikenne-Remo while Mawuena secured the needed maximum three points for his side with the 83rd minute's goal 

Remo Stars displaced defending champions Enyimba International of Aba currently in the third position with 55points while Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Lobi Stars of Makurdi are in fourth and fifth positions respectively with 52 points each 

The Stanley Eguma led Rivers United are still in the 13th position with 40points , after suffering two consecutive losses on the road, earlier lost to Bayelsa United in Yenegoa by similar margin, thus further dashing  the hope of the pride of Rivers United's title ambition

Nineteenth placed Heartland of Owerri and bottom placed Gombe United are swimming in relegation water with 29points and 25points
