LASU Begins 27th Convocation Ceremony On May 30



Management of the Lagos State University Ojo has rolled out its activities marking the 27th convocation ceremony holding between Thursday 30th of May,  and 6th of June, 2024 on the main campus of the Institution

Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello announcing the convocation's week long activities in a notice issued by Registrar and Secretary to Governing Council, Emmanuel Fanu on behalf of the management, said a press conference would hold on Thursday 30th of May on the first floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building at  10:00am while  sports competition would hold later in the day at 12noon at the LASU Sports Complex 

On Friday, 31st of May , there will be a Special Jumat Service at the university's main mosque by 1:00pm while a Special Thanksgiving Service is expected to hold on Sunday, 2nd of June at the University Chapel (Chapel of Light), Main Campus, Ojo, at exactly 10:00 a.m, according to the notice 

She stated  that there would be Coconut Breaking and Cultural Festival slated 
for Monday, 3rd June 2024 at the 
Badagry Gate Entrance on the main Campus, Ojo at  9:00 a.m.prompt  

The Convocation Lecture is expected to hold on Tuesday, 4th June 2024 at
the Buba Marwa Auditorium of the university by 11:00 a.m while the convocation for the award of Diplomas, First Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas and Master’s Degrees will hold at the same auditorium on Wednesday, 5th June 2024 at 10:00 a.m. 

Award of Doctorate Degrees (PhD) and Conferment of Honorary Doctorate Degrees according to the programme of event, will hold on Thursday, 6th June 2024  at the same venue at exactly 10:00 a.m. 

Meanwhile all categories of graduands are to pay for the convocation package by visiting: www. lasu.edu.ng/tsa/payment/default.php and follow the steps on the payment portal. 

Academic Gown are expected to be returned immediately after the Convocation Ceremony and latest by Friday, 7th June 2024 to avoid penalty. 

Any graduand who holds on to the Academic Gown beyond Friday, 7th June 2024, will be liable to a fine of Five Hundred Naira (N500:00) only, for each day of default. 

Also, any graduand who loses OR damages the Academic Gown would pay a sum of Thirty Thousand, Naira (N30,000:00) only, as replacement fee.

Graduands are to NOTE that certificates will be available for collection immediately after the Convocation Ceremony, subject to return of academic gown.

First degree graduands are to move the tassels of their caps from right to left at a point during the ceremony, when the Vice Chancellor declares; "I admit you all". This signifies their admission into the body of Graduates of Lagos State University (LASU). 

Higher degree recipients should put on their caps, with the tassels placed at the left hand side, since they already have their first degrees.

All graduands have been asked to seek the assistance of Faculty Officers to ensure that the hood and cap are properly worn, with the tassels (cords) of the cap positioned to the right.

Female graduands are expected to show courtesy when they shake hands with the Vice-Chancellor, while male graduands bow, but should NOT remove their caps. 

Parents/Guardians and Invited Guests are advised to be seated NOT later than 8.30 a.m. on each day. 

Graduands are to adhere strictly to the activities by joining the Convocation Procession by 9.00a.m to avoid being prevented from getting  into the Auditorium. 

Graduands in each Faculty are expected to be seated in the sections provided for them in the University Auditorium.

Unauthorized movements and taking of photographs will not be allowed during the convocation ceremony. Graduands are, therefore, advised in their own interest to complete such activity before coming into the University Auditorium OR wait till after the ceremony. Any graduand who leaves his/her seat while the ceremony is on will NOT be allowed to return to the Auditorium. This is to ensure ORDERLINESS during the Convocation Ceremony.

Graduands and Invited Guests under the canopy outside the Auditorium are requested to be orderly and rise to their feet as the Academic Procession enters AND leaves the Convocation venue.

Graduands should be properly robed; and are also advised to conform to the colour prescribed for their Faculties.

All graduands are required to immediately commence and complete the process of their clearance in their respective College/Schools/Faculties before the convocation, in order to facilitate the collection of their degree certificates.

The Vice Chancellor congratulated all Graduands, Parents/Guardians/ Stakeholders and the entire University Community on the occasion of the 27th Convocation Ceremony of the University.
