Ogun Govt Asks Corporate Organizations To Diversify Empowerment Programmes





Ogun State Government has asked corporate organizations to always diversity their empowerment programmes for youths to enable them acquire different skills in various fields of vocation and alleviate poverty in the country 

The State Commissioner for Sports Development, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, who made the call  at the closing ceremony of the 2023 Community Development Youth Empowerment programme, said such diversification would create employment opportunities, which is pivotal to the overall growth and development of the youths.

 He assured that government would assist in fostering joint development of the state by empowering its people, especially the youths


Isiaka urged the company to sustain its partnership programmes by helping to create markets for the products the beneficiaries would be producing to encourage them, appreciating its unwavering support at empowering the youths and recognising the importance of investing in future leaders.

“Your dedication to providing opportunities for skill development and empowerment speaks volume of your commitment to building a better future for our youths. I want to encourage the establishment of mentorship programmes and continuous support networks to ensure that the skills acquired here continue to evolve and remain relevant in a rapidly changing world”, he said.


He appealed to the youths and other stakeholders in the host communities to reciprocate the gesture by making peace their priority, play their part by partnering and supporting the organisation, to ensure peaceful co-existence and shared prosperity for all.

The Commissioner charged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity and set up businesses, grow them and become employers of labour, advising them to be focused and conversant with latest development in their areas of specialisation by embracing technology.




Earlier, the Plant Director, Ibese Dangote Cement plant, Mr. Michael Johnson, described the conclusion of the skill acquisition programme as another testament to Dangote Cement’s commitment to the socio-economic development of its host communities, and support the people to be financially independent and entrepreneurs.

He disclosed that the programme, which is in collaboration with the Industrial Training Fund, saying 30 youths from the 17 host communities, who graduated in crafts and leather works, would be presented with start-up packs.

Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, Balikiss Akinlotan, appreciated the management of Dangote Cement for its passion to make youths self-reliant, promising that the start-up packs would be judiciously used
