The Times Higher Education has listed two Nigerian universities, University of Ibadan and University of Lagos among top ten universities in Africa
The organization in its 2023 world university rankings across 104 countries and regions, listed Nigeria's premier university, University of Ibadan in the seventh position while University of Lagos in the country's commercial city, finished in ninth position
Three universities in South Africa, University of Cape Town, Stellenbosch University and University of Witwatersrand finished in the first, second and third positions respectively while University of Cape Coast( Ghana) and Aswan University( Egypt) completed the top five on the continent
Globally, University of Oxford (United Kingdom) maintained its top position for eight consecutive years while University of Harvard (United States) displaced University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) from second to third position
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 include 1,799 universities, making them the largest and most diverse university rankings till date.
This year’s ranking analysed over 121 million citations across more than 15.5 million research publications and included survey responses from 40,000 scholars globally.
