NBTE Wants More Fund For Technical Education To Tackle Economic Challenges

National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has called for more attention to technical education in Nigeria as part of strategies to tackle current economic challenges.

The  NBTE Director of Academic Programmes, Architect Ngbede Ogoh
made the call during a visit of the Board to D. S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori-Ewekoro, Ogun State, for a resource inspection and accreditation exercise.

He urged  governments both at state and federal levels to increase the funding of  polytechnic education established to produce graduates with practical hands-on skills.

"It is saddening to note that some Polytechnics are converting to universities, when the reverse should actually be the case," Ogoh said.

He added that countries all over the world are moving towards skill acquisition and reaping fine results in the form of positive economic indices.

Ogoh expressed the optimism that Nigeria too will keep towing the same line.

In his remarks at the event, the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Goke Rauf
affirmed the Institution's commitment to providing quality training that would ensure the relevance of the Institution's graduates, in whatever area of career development that they chose.

"The polytechnic is ready and willing to abide by the Board's policies in order to achieve quality service delivery in our training processes", he assured
