Ogun Govt Begins Removal Of Illegal Structures In Abeokuta Markets.

Ogun State Government through its  Special Task Force On Environment has cleared illegal structures, shanties and covered drainages, just as it ensured that traders truly  comply  with the weekly sanitation exercise at market places in Abeokuta, to ensure a healthy, clean and safe environment in the state capital

The State  Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) and Ogun State Waste Management(OGWAMA) team, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment and Chairman on Environmental Task Force, Hon. Farouk Akintunde, carried out the operation at Kuto and Adatan markets, as well as June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto.

Akintunde who was speaking with newsmen during the enforcement exercise, stated that the illegal structure erected at the frontage of Itesi Methodist Primary School 1 Adatan, was unacceptable, as it could endanger the lives of the pupils and distract them from learning

“Government will not allow any illegal structure, more so that it affects lives of our children. We cannot afford to expose the pupils of this school to kidnapping and other dangers that can affect them; a school is a place for imparting knowledge and not for buying and selling”, he said.

He further explained that the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration was committed to keeping the state clean, free and safe from all diseases that could affect residents’ health, adding that the waste management team in the state was up to the task for proper disposal of refuse.
