Ogun Govt Wants More Support Of Old Students Associations In Development Of Public Schools




Ogun State Government has stressed the need for more contributions of Old Students’ Associations in development of infrastructure in public schools, saying their roles cannot be over-emphasised.

The State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu made the call during the official commissioning of a Library and Science Laboratory, renovated by the Old Students’ Association of Ifesowapo Comprehensive High School, Imodi-Imosan in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, saying the move was in tandem with the Adopt-a-School agenda of the present administration in the State.

Arigbabu assured that the government would continue to provide qualitative and accessible education for the citizenry, saying more classrooms with tables and chairs would be provided for schools across the State, to complement the Association's effort.

 Also speaking , a retired Permanent Secretary, Office of the Governor, Mr. Afeez Osolase and the Chairman, Odogbolu Local Government, Hon. Shuaib Ladejobi in their separate messages,  said financing education should be a collective effort of all stakeholders, admonishing students to complement government efforts by being zealous in their studies to attain greater heights in life.

Similarly, the Chief Imam, Imosan, Alhaji Yesir Hamzat, applauded government for its commitment towards taking education to its pedestal, enjoining the Ministry to put in place adequate security measures to secure the facility.

Earlier, the Principal of the School, Mrs. Adebisi Ogunsobo, appreciated government for prioritising education and ensuring qualitative and accessible education for the citizenry, commending the Association for its unrelenting strides and resources expended to ensure completion of the project.
