Ogun Govt Earmarks N1.79bn For 10,000 Housing Units, Others In 2024

 



Ogun State Government has earmarked a sum of N1.79billion for construction of proposed 10,000 affordable housing units including the Aviation Village Estate in Iperu-Remo and Government Reservation Area (GRA) Regeneration Plans at Ibara and Idi- Aba both in Abeokuta, the State capital in the coming 2024 fiscal year 

The State  Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi who revealed this while defending the Ministry's total budget proposal of N2.342billion  for the next fiscal year before the Finance and Appropriation Committee of the State House of Assembly, explained that a sum of N1.799billion would go for capital projects, while the sum of N542million would go for recurrent expenditure.  

He stated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun led government was committed to addressing housing deficits among residents and would be taking advantage offered by Public Private Partnership arrangements to actualize the 10,000 affordable housing units for residents , come 2024

Also the State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Town Planner Tunji Odunlami presented a total budget proposal of N1.290billion for the next fiscal year.

Odunlami clarified that of the total budget, the sum of N999.9million would go for Capital Expenditure, while the remaining N290million was earmarked for Recurrent Expenditure for next year.

Other agencies that had their 2024 budget proposals considered by the lawmakers included, Housing Corporation, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Agriculture and Bureau of Lands and Survey, among others.
