Ogun Govt Assures Fishery Sector Of More Support To Boost Production





Ogun State Government has assured fishery Sector of more support, so as  to  further boost massive food production of in the state 
        
The state Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Bolu Owotomo gave the assurance during a visit to the Oomik Fish Farmers Cluster Association, Ilase in Ipokia Local Government Area of the state


He assured that government would not rest on its oars at providing an enabling environment for the sector to thrive.
          
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Samuel Adeogun, Owotomo noted that government was ready to assist the farmers to enhance their livelihood, stressing that fish farming was an enterprise youths should venture into to be employers of labour.
        
The Commissioner promised to link farmers with financial institutions for easy access to credit facilities at a low rate, adding that government was working towards proffering solution to their challenges, to aid the growth of the sector.
          
He explained that the group could benefit from government intervention such as, Ogun State Economic Transformation Programme (OGSTEP) for farmers, as well as other interventions, meant to support and boost their businesses.

           
While appreciating government, the Patron of the Association and Asiwaju of Ipokia kingdom, Chief Titus Babajide (JP), promised the clusters' cooperation at all times, saying the state had been of immense assistance to fish farmers.

          
In his remarks, Chairman of the Association, Mr. Johnson Adetana, commended the present administration for giving priority to the sector, requesting more loan and support, to further enhance the growth of the association.
