FUNAAB's Former VC Reveals Success Secrets To Successor In A Special Documentary





The immediate past Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof.Felix Kolawole Salako has revealed the secrets of his giant strides in the area of infrastructural development  to the incumbent, Prof. Olusola Kehinde in a special video documentary packaged by the PR Primus Limited, publishers of foremost Public Relations magazine in Nigeria

The sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor in the video documentary titled 'Transformational Strides of FUNAAB' between 2017 and 2022  which was premiered on Wednesday inside the conference hall of the university's Senate Building on the Alabata main campus of the Institution, disclosed that his administration initiated a strategic master plan for infrastructural development of the institution from the 1st of November, 2017 when he took over the administration of the school

Salako in the documentary detailing no fewer than 34 legacy capital projects including lecture halls, hostels, dams, laboratories and oil palm processing plant initiated during his five tenure in office, explained that the master plan guided his administration in the execution of the landmark projects which according to him are built and well equipped with first class facilities only seen at FUNAAB in Nigeria







The former Vice-Chancellor addressing principal officers and other top management staff of the university during the formal presentation and premiere of the documentary, also revealed that his administration was strategic in the award of the contract for the various capital projects initiated within the time frame to prevent the current inflationary rate from adding to the original cost of the contract for the projects 

"We are not just building lecture halls and laboratories, we are equipping the laboratories with first class equipments that can only be found in FUNAAB. We are strategic in our projects implementation,the projects executed are about FUNAAB not about me , is for the betterment of the institution ", he stated 




Salako recalled how he  took advantage of the lockdown period declared by government during COVID-19 pandemic, to execute several capital projects which contributed greatly to the top rating of the university in the recent times 

He was full of appreciation for meaningful contributions of principal officers including the incumbent Vice-Chancellor who was then Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), current Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Christian Ike-Obi amongst other top officials of the institution while charging them to ensure that the facilities provided by his administration are well utilized for sustainance of quality research and academic excellence

The immediate past Vice Chancellor was quick to add that the special documentary was to put the record straight, through proper documentation of projects initiated and executed for reference purposes and future infrastructural development of the university 

Similarly Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Olusola Kehinde assured his predecessor of completion of the remaining legacy projects initiated by the Salako's tenure , saying 95percent of the inherited projects have been completed  under his leadership which started in 2022 




The Vice-Chancellor who lauded the passion and drive of his predecessor at developing the Institution, also pledged to ensure proper utilization of the facilities to sustain the infrastructural growth of the university and its culture of academic excellence 
  
Also speaking, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Christian Ike-Obi commended the immediate former Vice-Chancellor for telling his own success story in the documentary for prosperity to judge his performance , saying the Institution will remember him for his purposeful leadership




Deputy Registrar, Dr. Abdulsalam in his separate remarks, however tasked the immediate past Vice Chancellor to put his experiences together in form of a book for the university community to tap from his rich experience as an administrator in the university system

High point of the event was the official presentation of copies of video documentary which is also on YouTube channel for people to subscribe and view on social media platform
