Ogun Govt, NSCDC Move To End Gender-Based Violence

Ogun State Government through its  Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and the  of the Nigeria Security and CivilState Command Defence Corps have resolved to put an  end the menace of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in society, by strengthening the existing cordial relationships and devising  new ways of bringing perpetrators to book.

The Commissioner in the Ministry, Hon. Adijat Adeleye, leading a team to NSCDC headquarters in Kobape, Abeokuta, stressed the need for public and private organisations  to work together to rid the country of social vices.

"The essence of this visit is to devise new ways of doing things and to call for a stronger relationship between your Corps and the Ministry, so as to drastically reduce the atrocities of Gender-Based Violence, if not totally eradicated". Adeleye said.

Responding, the Corps Commandant of the NSCDC, Ogun Command, Commandant David-Idowu Ojelabi appreciated the concern of the Ministry in ensuring inter-agency collaboration, saying it was essential to strengthen the communication gap between the two agencies, in order to make perpetrators of the evil acts to face the wrath of the law.

Commandant Ojelabi pledged the Corp’s readiness to collaborate with the Ministry to put an end to the menace, adding that, ‘’there will be no rest time until success is achieved in the area of GBV’’.
