Ogun Govt Begins Housing Regeneration Programme In Abeokuta

Ogun State Government has begun its urban renewal programme of the dilapidated building of Ibara GRA and part of Government Technical College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, to pave the way for modern, befitting houses in the state capital, as workers vacated the affected areas

The State Commissioner for Housing, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi who made this known while fielding questions from newsmen during the exercise, said the process was not in any way meant to witch-hunt Civil servants who occupied the places but rather to carry out its regeneration programme that will give real value to the State and the people.

Akande Omoniyi who  noted that similar GRAs in other southwestern States had been rebuilt over the years to conform with modern housing schemes, said that the commencement of the regeneration scheme of Ibara GRA was graciously approved by the Governor Dapo Abiodun and would be delivered at the stipulated period.

"We have been mandated to come up with a lively city that can portray Ogun standard, I want to assure you that Ogun State is ready for real estate business," the Commissioner assured

Recall that the Commissioner was accompanied on the inspection of the dilapidated building of Ibara GRA and Government Technical College, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, by the Head of Service, Mr Kolawole Fagbohun some weeks ago to see to the level of compliance of the occupants after serving them the vacate order on different occasions.

Fagbohun who revealed that about 232 Civil Servants residing in the estate would be given consideration in the regeneration programme, urged them to take advantage of mortgages, in order to benefit from the affordable housing scheme programme.
