Ogun Revenue Agency's Chairman Praises Staff, Others' Support For Agency's Highest Ranking In IGR

The Executive Chairman of the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS), Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye has attributed the ranking of the State as number one in IGR growth in the recent Accountability Index nationally to the support of the Staff of OGIRS and other relevant MDAs.

Olaleye expressed his delight at the 2023 first quarter to third quarter Performance Review of all Departments, Tax Stations and Units of the agency and 2024 Budget Strategic Session at Obas Complex in Abeokuta, the State capital

According to him, Ogun State has been ranked first on the list with over 50 percent IGR growth consistently between 2021 and 2022 among other States in the country.

He charged Tax Officers to put on their thinking caps, look inwards along OGIRS product lines, get information from other MDAs and explore other avenues that have not been harnessed to expand the tax net for improved revenue generation.

Olaleye pointed out that the OGIRS database has been integrated with other relevant MDAs like OLARMS, Business Premises Permit, and Bureau of Procurement among others to ensure a consistent increase in revenue generation.

Earlier, the Director, Corporate Development who doubles as the Chairman of the session, Mr. Taiwo Ogundimu, enjoined the participants to see the session as an opportunity to speak out, make positive contributions and jointly strategies on how to achieve more in terms of delivering higher revenue for the State.

He appreciated them for the feat achieved in the first three quarters of the year, advising them to make good use of the technology provided to exceed the revenue target as there was more room for improvement.
