Learners from Primary School in Ogun State are set to become digital compliant as the State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology unfolded plans by the state government to collaborate with technology experts to ensure they are familiarised with digital literacy in line with international best practices.
The State Commissioner in the Ministry, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave this assurance during a courtesy visit by the Members of the Centre for Industrial Engineering Research and Economic Development (CIERED), led by its Director General, Dr. Tobi Adewuyi to his office in Abeokuta
He stated that teachers would also be trained on the use of technology to achieve the desired results in teaching and learning.
"The initiative will help the young learners go beyond knowing just components of the computer to become digitally inclined, and for them to do things on their own. We must get into this, early enough before they start dissipating their energies on other non-productive things", the Commissioner added,
He commended the organisation for supporting the present administration in the State, towards achieving its goals of providing qualitative educational standards for the citizenry at all levels, promising to continually welcome ideas and initiatives that would engender better learning outputs.
Dr. Adewuyi said that the organisation was set up to promote digital innovation and impart in the economic development of the Nation, noting that the IERED digital competency club would be established in schools across the State, to digitally empower learners from the primary school levels for a better future.
