Chrisland University Is Producing Graduate Entrepreneurs Not Job Seekers - VC





Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University Abeokuta, Prof.Chinedum Peace Babalola says the institution has been producing graduates who are entrepreneurs creating employment for others in various sectors of Nigeria's economy and not those seeking jobs after graduation 

The Vice-Chancellor who was speaking on Sunday at a press conference, kick-starting a four-day activities for the 5th convocation of the university on its Ajebo Road campus in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, revealed that all  graduates from the institution were made to under-go mandatory entrepreneurship development programmes in any vocation of their choice and certificate issued to them after completion of training in such vocation, in addition to the degrees awarded to them in their respective academic programmes


"We are raising business entrepreneurs and inventors and not just graduates who are seeking for white-collar jobs out there", she stated

According to her, a total of 91 graduands will be graduating with  first degrees in various academic programmes at the 5th convocation of the university holding on Tuesday,  where 10 of them will be awarded with First Class Honours , 49 of the graduands will be finishing with Second Class  Upper Division as well as 26 who will be awarded with Second Class Lower Division and the remaining six in Third Class Division 


The Vice-Chancellor accompanied by Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Olatunde Farombi as well as Registrar, Mr.Samuel Babatola Omotoso and other principal officers of the university, also disclosed that Miss Ezekwem Adachukwu Michelle emerged as overall best graduating student for class 2022/2023  with CGPA of 4.91 

On other activities of the convocation, she said convocation lecture would be delivered this Monday, 30th of October at 12noon by Prof.Toyin Falola, an African Historian from the University of Texas while Night of Drama and Cultural Display holds later at 5:00 pm while  Thanksgiving Service will be holding on Wednesday, 1st November, 2023 at the university's auditorium with Diocesan Bishop of Ajayi  Crowther Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) , Iseyin ,Oyo State,Right Reverend Collins Olufemi Babalola presiding over the service as from 10:00 am 

Dignitaries being expected at convocation holding on Tuesday, 31st of October, include Founder who is the Chancellor of Chrisland University and Chairman Board of Trustees, the Moojila of Egbaland, High Chief, Dr (Mrs) Winifred Awosika, Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Ayodeji Olukoju amongst others

Speaking on the status of academic programmes being offered by the university, the Vice-Chancellor noted with pride that all the academic programmes across four colleges of the institution including College of Arts, Management And Social Sciences , College of Natural And Applied Sciences , College of Basic Medical Sciences and College of Law are  enjoying full accreditation of National Universities Commission (NUC) and other relevant professional bodies 

Chrisland University according to her, is still only university in Africa, running Doctorate Degree in Physiotherapy

She added that the university has continued to sustain its culture of academic excellence while working with relevant security agencies to ensure peaceful and conducive environment for learning
